Supporting rugby league great Carl Webb against his battle with MND

NNA Direct Support Service is honoured to support former Australian rugby league international, Carl Webb, in his fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

The Carl Webb Foundation, an independent charitable organisation that raises funds for Motor Neurone Disease, was started by Carl who announced his diagnosis last year at just 39 years old.

As the league legend fights his toughest battle yet, NNA Direct Support is working with Carl on a pro bono basis to provide administrative support and providing our professional support workers for his day-to-day support so that he can continue to grow his foundation on a national scale and raise much needed funds for the disease.

Despite hailing from the blue-jerseyed rival state, Carl’s NNA Customer Engagement Manager, Daniel has already formed a strong relationship with the former Broncos and State of Origin Player in the short amount of time they have worked together.

“It’s great supporting Carl and his foundation, even though I support the Blues I now have a soft spot for the Maroons. There is a lot of Rugby League banter and it’s always a laugh” says Daniel.

We feel honoured to be able to support Carl in his battle with MND and amplify his cause to ensure no one has to face MND alone.

Stay tuned for announcements about our upcoming event sponsorships and initiatives with the Carl Webb Foundation.

Recently, we caught up with Joseph Semaan who we previously introduced to you as our Customer Engagement Manager. But we wanted to reintroduce you to him and his new role at NNA Direct Support Service. Joseph is now our Business Development Consultant based in Western Sydney and has been with us since November 2021. He has over 5 years of experience in the disability sector and has been great to have on the team. What do you see as the biggest opportunity for disability support providers? To reach more participants and assist them to live more independently and improve their well-being and quality of life. Biggest challenge for the disability support sector? Firstly, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) not responding quick enough to plan reviews, impacting participants care. Also, the risk of organisations not meeting professional standards to provide model care to participants. What are some fun facts about you? I have a Diploma in Remedial Massage and ran a business for over 12 years. What are you most excited about for in 2023? Professionally, I am excited to continue to expand the business and help as many people as possible. Personally, watching my daughter grow and celebrate her 1 st birthday. If you or someone you know is looking for support in Sydney, please get in touch with Joseph on LinkedIn here .
