Nurse of the Month - October 2021

It's time to announce our employee of the month for October 2021, congratulations to Marie.K! Head over to our Instagram or Facebook and leave a comment for her.

Marie has been with NNA for over 5 years now, so we were eager to ask her a few questions and hear what she loves most about working with us:

What do you enjoy the most about working with NNA?

I have worked with NNA for over 5 years because they are an amazing, supportive team. They are friendly, professional, and provide a great work atmosphere. They offer lots of different shifts in a variety of clinical settings which is great for clinical experience. I can pick my own hours which means I can have a fantastic work-life balance.

Tell us why you like working with NNA?

I have experienced so many rewarding incidents whilst working with NNA. I find it rewarding to be part of a team that is supportive, encouraging and invested in its members. Whenever I ring the office, they are so approachable and would go the extra mile to help with any issues. NNA puts a lot of effort into work party’s and social functions to keep its members connected, this is fantastic for an agency as you don’t often work with other agency colleagues. These social occasions really help foster a team culture and this is what I appreciate most about working for NNA.

What makes you passionate about nursing?

Nursing is a fantastic career and I love the variety of job opportunities it offers, with NNA I have worked in public, private, medical, surgical, practice nursing, flu clinics, rapid antigen testing; I have worked as a nurse, nurse educator and a facilitator. I love the challenge of working in different roles, in different environments with different people and different patients every day. These experiences have led me to develop so many skills and I’m excited to see what I can do next :) Thank you NNA for helping me build a fantastic career so far!

Thank you Marie for your dedication, passion and empathy, it has not gone unnoticed.

Recently, we caught up with Joseph Semaan who we previously introduced to you as our Customer Engagement Manager. But we wanted to reintroduce you to him and his new role at NNA Direct Support Service. Joseph is now our Business Development Consultant based in Western Sydney and has been with us since November 2021. He has over 5 years of experience in the disability sector and has been great to have on the team. What do you see as the biggest opportunity for disability support providers? To reach more participants and assist them to live more independently and improve their well-being and quality of life. Biggest challenge for the disability support sector? Firstly, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) not responding quick enough to plan reviews, impacting participants care. Also, the risk of organisations not meeting professional standards to provide model care to participants. What are some fun facts about you? I have a Diploma in Remedial Massage and ran a business for over 12 years. What are you most excited about for in 2023? Professionally, I am excited to continue to expand the business and help as many people as possible. Personally, watching my daughter grow and celebrate her 1 st birthday. If you or someone you know is looking for support in Sydney, please get in touch with Joseph on LinkedIn here .
