What has been the highlight of working with NNA this year?

NNA gave me the opportunity to contribute to the COVID pandemic which has been a highlight for me this year.  During this pandemic I was extremely fortunate to have consistent shifts, which provided me with stability. NNA have given me the chance to be part of a team while also allowing me to learn new skill - Amanda

I have been working in quarantine hotels most of this year. NNA have provided excellent training, great support and plenty of flexible shifts for me. Therefore I am able to provide excellent services to my patients during the pandemic period - Chumian

What does it mean to you to be nominated as Nurse of the Year?

It means a lot to me to be nominated for this award. I am so grateful that NNA has recognised my hard work throughout the year. It has been a hard year for everyone, especially healthcare workers, so I am delighted to hear I have been chosen by NNA - Amanda

I am surprised and very grateful for the nomination and recognition that comes with the NNA nurse of the year. I am proud of my job, where I can help others. I cherish the experience to work at the frontline of Covid-19 and be nominated as nurse of the year - Chumian

What makes working at NNA so great?

The reason I enjoy working with NNA is the flexibility. NNA allocate shifts that suit my schedule. They communicate with me regularly to ensure I am comfortable in my work place. Working with NNA has helped to develop my nursing skills by providing me with a wide range of work environments such as surgical, cardiac, mental health and emergency nursing. It has been a great learning experience - Amanda

Friendly and supportive staff, excellent training, flexible and adequate shifts and a wonderful working environment. I enjoy my work and I appreciated what NNA provides - Chumian

Recently, we caught up with Joseph Semaan who we previously introduced to you as our Customer Engagement Manager. But we wanted to reintroduce you to him and his new role at NNA Direct Support Service. Joseph is now our Business Development Consultant based in Western Sydney and has been with us since November 2021. He has over 5 years of experience in the disability sector and has been great to have on the team. What do you see as the biggest opportunity for disability support providers? To reach more participants and assist them to live more independently and improve their well-being and quality of life. Biggest challenge for the disability support sector? Firstly, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) not responding quick enough to plan reviews, impacting participants care. Also, the risk of organisations not meeting professional standards to provide model care to participants. What are some fun facts about you? I have a Diploma in Remedial Massage and ran a business for over 12 years. What are you most excited about for in 2023? Professionally, I am excited to continue to expand the business and help as many people as possible. Personally, watching my daughter grow and celebrate her 1 st birthday. If you or someone you know is looking for support in Sydney, please get in touch with Joseph on LinkedIn here .
