Introducing our new Concierge Service in partnership with Summer Housing

NNA Direct Support Service is thrilled to have been selected as the provider of choice by Summer Housing’s tenants to deliver a new concierge support service. Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting the new residents of The Grace apartments in Hornsby, checked out their swish pads and chatted to them about our on-call Concierge Service.

Established in 2017, Summer Housing’s mission is to expand the range and scale of diverse housing options for people with disability living in, or at risk of admission to, residential aged care, particularly younger people. The Grace provides beautifully presented single-level apartments that have been designed to achieve Platinum level certification under Liveable Housing Design Guidelines and meet High Physical Support design requirements under the NDIS.

Summer Housing raises the bar when it comes to quality design for disability housing, and our Concierge Service seeks to be the premium service to match. We share the belief that younger people with disability should have the ability to live in a home that meets their needs and allows them to continue to actively participate in the community. To compliment the support model and accessible design at The Grace, our Concierge Service aims to maximise independence with a 24/7 on-call service, whereby tenants can access to unplanned, on-hand support when they need it.

While our Concierge Support service runs separately to NNA Direct Support’s individual support services, our team of dedicated support workers and nurses can also provide in-home 1:1 support to tenants if they choose.

Some examples of how our Concierge Service can help SIL and SDA tenants:

  • An extra support worker to meet residents’ needs e.g. to assist with a hoist transfer

  • On-call support overnight or for unexpected situations

  • Emergency support for when something goes wrong

  • Collecting a package that has been delivered if nobody is home or unable to pick up

  • An extended support network if you are feeling unsettled in your new home or need some advice on local services

It was wonderful to spend the day getting to know the new tenants at the Grace and welcome them with a little housewarming gift. We wish them all the best getting settled into their beautiful new homes.

Recently, we caught up with Joseph Semaan who we previously introduced to you as our Customer Engagement Manager. But we wanted to reintroduce you to him and his new role at NNA Direct Support Service. Joseph is now our Business Development Consultant based in Western Sydney and has been with us since November 2021. He has over 5 years of experience in the disability sector and has been great to have on the team. What do you see as the biggest opportunity for disability support providers? To reach more participants and assist them to live more independently and improve their well-being and quality of life. Biggest challenge for the disability support sector? Firstly, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) not responding quick enough to plan reviews, impacting participants care. Also, the risk of organisations not meeting professional standards to provide model care to participants. What are some fun facts about you? I have a Diploma in Remedial Massage and ran a business for over 12 years. What are you most excited about for in 2023? Professionally, I am excited to continue to expand the business and help as many people as possible. Personally, watching my daughter grow and celebrate her 1 st birthday. If you or someone you know is looking for support in Sydney, please get in touch with Joseph on LinkedIn here .
