Meet our Nurses - NNA Assistant In Nursing - Mamata

Meet our Nurses here at NNA! We recently interviewed Assistant in Nursing (AIN) Mamata. Discover more about Mamata's experience working with us here at NNA and why she finds it so rewarding.

What do you love most about the job/ working with NNA?

I really enjoy working with NNA as the team are really supportive and understanding. The good thing about working with an agency is that they are very flexible and I can choose my shifts according to my preferences which is what I love the most. Often I receive the roster one month prior so that I can organise my personal life and be prepared for shifts.

What is your nursing specialty and what facilities/locations do you usually work at?

I was a surgical nurse back in my home country but after starting with NNA, I have had the opportunity to work in different hospitals around Sydney. This is where I gained my experience in working in a variety of wards in different hospitals. But I usually work at a local Sydney hospital because it is close to where I live. This is also one of the benefits of working with an agency as you can choose a location that is nearby.

Do you enjoy the flexibility of picking and choosing shifts that suit your family and/or lifestyle?

Yes, I enjoy the flexibility of picking and choosing shifts that suit my family and lifestyle. As I live with my sister and look after my niece in the afternoons, I always prefer the night shift.

Describe a rewarding experience you’ve had whilst working with NNA?

Appreciation from the nursing staff and patients, seeing the smiling faces of patients, training through online resources for further professional development and great pay are some of the rewarding experiences that I had while working with NNA.

What advice would you give to other nurses looking for an agency role?

I would recommend RN's and EN's to join NNA who are struggling to find a job and want to develop their career in the nursing field. I also want to say that once you join NNA you won’t regret it. Agency work is very flexible and convenient as you can choose your shifts according to your preferences and it is especially beneficial for students and parents who have children.

Recently, we caught up with Joseph Semaan who we previously introduced to you as our Customer Engagement Manager. But we wanted to reintroduce you to him and his new role at NNA Direct Support Service. Joseph is now our Business Development Consultant based in Western Sydney and has been with us since November 2021. He has over 5 years of experience in the disability sector and has been great to have on the team. What do you see as the biggest opportunity for disability support providers? To reach more participants and assist them to live more independently and improve their well-being and quality of life. Biggest challenge for the disability support sector? Firstly, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) not responding quick enough to plan reviews, impacting participants care. Also, the risk of organisations not meeting professional standards to provide model care to participants. What are some fun facts about you? I have a Diploma in Remedial Massage and ran a business for over 12 years. What are you most excited about for in 2023? Professionally, I am excited to continue to expand the business and help as many people as possible. Personally, watching my daughter grow and celebrate her 1 st birthday. If you or someone you know is looking for support in Sydney, please get in touch with Joseph on LinkedIn here .
